Meet

Mike & Lori Steele

Mike Steele and Lori Rudge met in grade school. Their friendship blossomed into a high school romance and eventually marriage in 1984.

They soon became a military family as Mike joined the US Army and eventually became a CH-47 Chinook Pilot. Together they traveled the world and established bonds and friendships only experienced by our nations warriors. Mike served through two conflicts, Grenada and the Gulf War. He retired in 2003 as a Chief Warrant Officer. He is currently an HEMS pilot and check airman for STAT MedEvac.

Lori graduated from Mt. Alloysius College and is a certified occupational therapy assistant with over 30 years experience. She is currently employed by NovaCare Rehabilitation.

Mike and Lori have two children: Sierra and Cody. Sierra who is married and has a daughter Annabella and owns a home in Windber. Sierra shares a love of the outdoors and horses much like her parents. She is employed at a local bank and also serves as the marketing manager of WFOH. Cody has completed 6 years of service in the US Air Force Special Forces as a “PJ” Para Rescueman. Cody has returned to civilian employment utilizing skills acquired during his military & medical training. Cody is a true outdoorsman and adrenaline junkie and moved back to the area to enjoy more time with his family and friends.

Mike and Lori operate an AirBnB located on the farm property as well as tending to their animals including the dogs, multiple horses, chickens, peacocks, a goat and an alpaca.

Mike and Lori also operate Mountain View Acres, a commercial upland hunting operation located in Windber Pennsylvania with the assistance of their prized dogs, Buck, Zealand, Lou and Moose.

Mike and Lori decided to give back to our nations heroes and protectors who have given so much to our country and communities by forming Wings for our Heroes. Wings for our Heroes is a not for profit corporation that offers upland adventures, adaptive hunts and fly fishing adventures as a means of giving back to those who have given so much. We’re dedicated to provide outdoor adventures and adaptive equipment to Military, Police/Corrections, Firefighters and EMS workers that have been disabled in the line of duty.
